About Trish Wood

I was active as a kid and maintained a healthy weight throughout my childhood. I played sports and was a cheerleader throughout middle school and high school. But when college came around and I became a sedentary student, I slowly gained 40 pounds over a six year period and barely fit into a size 14 at the age of 24.
I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Interior Design and it was after seeing my graduation pictures that I decided to make a change and started exercising. But being ignorant to how my body worked, I forewent weight training and focused only on cardiovascular activity. I often would skimp on calories and binge on junk food because of the hunger I'd feel. Over the next year, I was running 6 miles, 7 days a week, and got down to an unhealthy 107 lbs with 30% body fat. Even at 107 lbs, I was unhappy with the way I looked and felt so I started learning as much as I could about the human body, nutrition, training, and weight lifting. It was during that time I met my husband, Mike Wood.
With my new found passion and with my husband's encouragement, I became a certified personal trainer, started watching my diet, and became consistent with my workouts. After putting the education into practice, I slowly began to see the positive changes it was having on my body and wanted to take it take to the next level. After dieting for 3 months, and losing over 25 lbs, I entered my first bodybuilding competition. I placed 3rd in my first contest and have been hooked on the sport since that day. I have since competed in numerous competitions and am now an IFBB Pro Physique competitor.
