In January 2009 after returning from my two week holiday vacation with my family, I found myself extremely tired. I was tired of feeling so fat, tired of being embarrassed of all my pictures, tired of having to catch my breath just to tie my shoes, tired of not being able to wear any of my jeans, I was simply just tired of being overweight. I hated how often I would wonder if I was going to be able to continue in my profession with the military being in the shape I was in. Round is a shape too you know. I needed to pass my physical fitness test in order to stay in, and I was nowhere near standards. So I started to think about all those diets I could try…again, to somewhat win this ongoing battle, but those successes never lasted very long. I thought about getting another personal trainer but the last one I had always left me alone when I worked out and I only saw him once a week. It felt like a big waste of my time and money. So that was out of the question too. I gave up and just continued with life and continued to fuel my unhappiness.

A few weeks later when the buttons on my uniform pants were beginning to bring me pain, I had enough. I was in need of a change no matter the cost. I went online for the local gym I was a member at and skimmed through their personal trainer profiles. I figured I would be able to cancel if I didn’t feel it was worth it. Trish’s bio caught my eye. She said she was into bodybuilding and weight training, which is not the usual thing you would see on a personal training bio for females. I immediately realized that she was that one chick I saw with TONS of muscle. How cool is she! So I called the gym to see if she was available to train me. I was informed by the manager that she wouldn’t be able to meet with me for two whole weeks. Bummer! I was afraid I’d lose my motivation. But lucky for me, I chose to schedule my appointment two weeks away and wait.

I met Trish for the very first time on the 17th of February, started my workouts on the 18th, and I haven’t looked back since. (Now that I think of it, even if I wanted to look back she probably wouldn’t allow it.) Not only did I meet my first goal of passing my physical fitness test, I scored higher than in any of my 11 years in the military by nearly 100 points over my norm. Once that obstacle was out of my way, we set another goal. When I passed that goal, we set another, then another, and another. Then one day I went shopping for new jeans, and realized I had dropped about 6 sizes. I was floored!

These past seven months haven’t been easy. I had to eat right while watching my friends eat whatever they wanted, I went to the gym when they laid on the couch, endured their teasing when I walked funny from muscle soreness, but I knew this wasn’t just a way to lose weight; it was my opportunity to change my life. I ran when Trish told me to run, I ate exactly what she told me to eat, I trusted that she knew what she was talking about, because it was obvious she knew more than I did. Now I understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle. That physical exercise alone is not nearly enough. That what I eat manipulates my body and my muscles. It’s all a factor in being successful. My success would never have been possible without this 4’11’’ firecracker who dedicated her time to me. Not just the time she spent with me in the gym, but those hours she spent figuring out what I was supposed to eat, responding to my countless emails (both home and work), my text messages, and by never ceasing to tell me it was all within reach. Makes me wonder when she even sleeps. Trish lets me ask questions and she lets me complain, but she never allows me to slow down.

In my opinion, she’s the best trainer ever to be born on the face of this earth. But she can only do so much. You have to be willing, honest and dedicated or you’ll just be wasting your time. If you do everything she says, you’ll never look back…even if you wanted to.

For my 40th birthday my husband presented me with a year of personal training sessions with TRISH WOOD. At that moment there was no possible way that I could have ever possibly imagine just how this gift would transform my life. Let’s just say that I had been drowning for years, my wonderful husband threw me a life raft, and Trish Wood saved me!

I was not always overweight. I grew up being a pretty active person and working out occasionally at the gym. My weight was never an issue, but once I started working in San Francisco and having a long commute to and from work is when my life gradually started going downhill. I no longer had a life for myself and all my meals were eaten on the road at fast food restaurants. In a nutshell, that has been my life for the past 14 years. I was always tired and never had any energy. I basically turned into a couch potato on the weekends, trying to make up for lost sleep and barely having any energy for much else. I was tired, depressed and had completely lost my zest for life.

When my husband presented me with this wonderful gift, I was delighted. I knew that this was going to be the perfect opportunity for me to finally get off my butt and change my life for the better. I knew right then and there that I was going to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity even if it killed me. I had every reason going for me for this to fail (a 200 mile round trip commute to work each day and working 10+ hours a day), but I promised myself that nothing would get in the way of me getting into the best shape of my life.

My first meeting with Trish was a difficult one to say the least. It really made me realize just how out of shape I was, but I knew if I just sucked it up and stuck with the program that there was no way that I could fail and quitting would never be an option. Each week I could feel myself getting stronger and I was feeling better and better all the time. The results were slow and steady, but each week the number on the scale dropped, my clothes were getting looser and I was starting to feel alive again for the first time in 14 years.

There have also been a few times when I have needed moral support. It’s not easy changing your diet as drastically as my changed and if I was craving something bad or feeling frustrated with my progress, Trish was always there by my side every step of the way to offer her advice and encouragement.

Trish has truly been the answer to my prayers. There are a lot of trainers out there, but Trish is someone who is experienced, dedicated and genuinely cares about her clients. If you are willing to work hard and do exactly what she tells you then Trish is your girl! No lie…the workouts will be tough and each week she will challenge you to push yourself out of your comfort zone and beyond your limits, but when you walk out of the gym each and every week you will truly feel empowered. I dare you to give Trish a try and let her help make a positive change in your life. What do you have to lose? There will be no short cuts and it’s a lot of hard work and dedication, but I promise you will never be disappointed with Trish by your side.
